The month of August at Rapids Camp Lodge offers an incredible variety. Wild rainbow trout are aggressively feeding on salmon eggs, fresh silver salmon are pouring into coastal rivers and eager to take flies, and brown bears can often be seen fishing alongside you as they chase sockeye. With peak fishing action and dramatic wildlife encounters, it’s no surprise that many anglers consider August the best month to be in Alaska.

Below are the remaining prime August spots still available. The full 7-night/6-day package with six fully guided fly-out days ($14,500 per person) currently offers an unmatched experience. Alternatively, the “no-fly-out” package ($10,000 per person) still offers an incredible base experience that better fits the budget. Note that fly-out excursions can still be added à la carte.

Rate: $14,500 per person for a 7 night/6 day package with 6 guided fly-out days – round-trip charter flight between ANC and AKN is included

Family Fun Time:

Bring the whole family to Rapids Camp Lodge and enjoy an inclusive Alaskan adventure that’s fun for all. Enjoy an ample menu of activities during the best weather of the Alaskan summer. Any length of stay is acceptable. Come and go as you please and tailor each day to your liking. Fly-out days can also be added on-site. Whether you have a seasoned fly angler or a dedicated day hiker, the lodge can cater to all members of the family who love Alaska and its outdoor adventures. Guided on-site activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, and hiking. Guided fly-out activities include flightseeing, bear viewing, hiking, rafting, and beach combing.

Rate: $1,000 per person per day of guided activity. Fly out activities paid for on-site ($375 per person, based on a group of four)

DIY Nushagak River Tent Camp:

Like fishing for Kings on the swing? Rapids Camp Lodge offers a unique DIY Spike Camp on the famed Nushagak River. This option is perfect for anglers seeking salmon in an independent, immersive Alaskan adventure. Accessible by floatplane, the camp features comfortable tent accommodations, meals, and a dedicated boat captain to assist with navigation and logistics, so you can focus on fishing at your own pace.

Available Dates: June 29 – July 6, 2025: 3 spots open

Rate: $2500 per person for 7 nights/6 days of fishing

Fourth of July Special:

A fully fly-out focused week is perfect for exploring remote waters. Enjoy six days of guided fly-out fishing or adventures over the 4th of July, offering diverse trout and salmon fishing with many available family adventures like bear viewing, rafting, and hiking. A full lodge buy-out is also possible for 8 guests or more.

Rate: $9,500 per person 7 night/6 day package with 6 guided fly-out days – charter flight not included

DIY Fall Fishing On The Naknek River:

Rapids Camp Lodge offers a unique DIY fishing experience on Alaska’s legendary Naknek River from mid-September through October, ideal for seasoned anglers. Fish independently while enjoying private lodging, hearty meals, and the support of a skilled boat driver to access prime water. With aggressive trophy rainbow trout feeding in peak autumn conditions, this flexible program blends world-class fishing with essential comfort. This program especially appeals to Spey anglers who love steelhead like takes of the swung fly. Guests arrive and depart through King Salmon.

Rate: $600 per fishing day
