
We know, it’s way past March Madness, and everyone’s brackets were busted (Thanks, Duke). Let’s shift our focus to a different kind of final four, one that swims rather than dribbles. We asked, and you’ve spoken like the NCAA selection committee. We’ll Kind of. Here are the Final Rankings of the Alaska Freshwater Fish Fish-Tastic Four:

Some of these rankings surprised us (Sockeye Salmon should be higher), and some didn’t, but they are all worthy of being considered enjoyable to catch game fish. Whether it is for the sport, the sustenance, or the simple pleasure of experiencing Alaskan nature, each of these species offers a unique and compelling reason to be considered among the state’s freshwater elite.
With these rankings, the Final Four is clear. What’s also clear is that the NCAA Selection Committee could learn something from us on how to rank. Let’s finish this and determine the ultimate Alaska Freshwater Game Fish.
