Gear You Need // Stocking Stuffer Edition: Fishpond’s Pio Pod

Need a last minute holiday gift for the angler in your life?  Here is an affordable accessory that I don’t see many people using but one that is very practical and helps keep our waterways trash free!

Fishpond’s PIO Pod Microtrash Container is a personal favorite product of mine.  The acronym PIO stands for “Pack It Out”, an expression from outdoorsmen instructing you to carry all of your waste out with you.  Small line fragments and tag ends get trimmed everyday on the river and simply left behind.  Both Monofilament and Fluorcarbon are bad for the environment in that they take decades to break down.  That is why Fishpond created the PIO Pod as one of the company’s first products.

This small trash receptacle is perfect for collecting used tippet, cigarette butts, or split shot.  It has multiple attachment points so that it can be clipped onto a lanyard, using a split ring, or clipped to a fabric loop or belt.  This allows for the receptacle to placed in a spot that is out of your way but still accessible.  Its small size (3.2”x1.9”) and lightweight make it no burden to bring along on your fishing missions.  With a retail price of $12.95 it makes the perfect stocking stuffer for the angler in your life.

New for 2019, the Largemouth PIO Pod.  The PIO Pod’s bigger brother (6.75”x3.75”) is specifically designed to fit in the cup holders of your boat or truck. Made with the same durable design of the original PIO Pod, it retails for $19.95 and makes a great addition to any skiff!
