Until next time! Photo: Jason Whiting.

Today we wrap up the last fishing day of our 2018 season at Alaska West and want to extend a huge thanks to all who made it one of our most memorable seasons to date.

To all of you who joined us on the Kanektok this year, along with with those who followed along vicariously through our blog/newsletter, from the bottom of our hearts; thank you. We love what we do, and you’re the reason we’re able to make a living doing it. Thanks again.

Hope to see you next year!

This year was my first trip to Alaska West, but I hope it’s not my last! We had a fantastic time last week of fishing for silvers, rainbow trout, and dollies. Heck, we even caught a several chum and pinks, and even a fresh-from-the-ocean sockeye (go figure). Your guides gave me my first introduction to spey casting. I got lucky and landed a trout and some silvers with a spey rod, which made the trip extra special for me. The only problem is that I’m all strung out on two-handed casting. I’m searching New Mexico for places where I can swing a fly. Maybe I can swing size 24 midges on the San Juan? I’m even considering taking my new two-handed rod to Belize this winter to bomb for bonefish!
