Our friends from the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust just released their 2017 update of their Bahamas Initiative and we think you should give it a look!
For those who aren’t familiar with the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, their easily the most active conservation group looking after the well being of not only our beloved flats fisheries in the Bahamas, but throughout the Caribbean as well.. AKA the good guys.
Their Bahamas Initiative program focuses solely on ensuring that the flats fishery in the Bahamas remains healthy – something we care a bit about. They recently released a summer update for the program highlighting the progress made, future goals, and a bunch of interesting stats and statistics on Bahamian bonefish.
If you’re like us, and care deeply about the well being of bonefish in the Bahamas, check out their release on the Bahamas Initiative by clicking right here!

Nicely composed photo!
Looks like the flats out in front of Little Creek. Hard sand, skinny water, fish to hand, nice. I never tire of bonefish lore, keep it coming.

Thanks for sharing. I’m a member of the BBT and follow their research and conservation closely. That is a nice photo and demonstrates how to handle a fish with best practices for survival (bare wet hands). If that fish were to be lifted (ever so briefly) out of the water, two hands should be used to avoid stressing the internal organs. Appreciate all you meaningful posts! Keep it up!
