Bahamas Update

Ah…The Bahamas

The Government of The Bahamas has updated their Travel and Testing Protocols, published October 2nd, 2020. The purpose of these new protocols are to eliminate the need to ‘Vacation in Place’.  We applaud the efforts of The Government of the Bahamas in their commitment to keeping their communities and visitors safe.

The requirement for travelers to “Vacation in Place” for 14 days or the duration of your stay, whichever is shorter, remains in place up until November 1st, 2020. After which, the “Vacation in Place” requirement will be lifted allowing travelers to fully experience the Bahamas, beyond solely their accommodations.

A quick overview of the new protocols:

  1. Visitors, returning citizens, and residents must obtain a RT-PCR (swab) test no more than seven (7) days prior to traveling to The Bahamas.
  2. Once in possession of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test, travelers are required to apply for a Bahamas Health Travel Visa at travel.gov.bs (click on the International tab).
  3. In order to ensure all travelers are COVID free, a rapid antigen test will be conducted upon arrival, and then again on the fifth day (96 hours) after you arrive in The Bahamas. Children under the age of ten (10) are exempt from taking a rapid antigen test.

You can find the full update and travel requirements here – The Bahamas New Protocols Update as of October 10, 2020

Please note, testing is ONLY available upon arrival at the following approved ports of entry: Nassau, Freeport, Marsh Harbour, North Eleuthera, Georgetown (Exuma), Bimini (and Cat Cay) and San Andros (Andros).

As always, be sure to wear your mask, practice social distancing & wash your hands frequently.

We here at Deneki Outdoors do our best to convey and share information set forth by the authorities. Please be aware that changes occur regularly. If you have booked a trip, or, are looking to book a trip, it is in your best interest to stay abreast of the changes. You can do that on The Islands of The Bahamas website’s COVID-19 TRAVEL UPDATE page.

We look forward to seeing you in the Bahamas!
