It has been a cool and rainy season on the Dean River so far but things have been turning on as of late. As the rain has continued to fall, it has the fresh fish active and moving. It is also getting to be that time of year where our guests have a very legitimate shot at landing a wild steelhead on a dry fly. Several anglers, including Pam (photo above), have managed to rise & land steelhead on dries this past week! Throwing (or more appropriately “skating”) dry flies at steelhead is a thing on the Dean and in our opinion, there is no cooler way to target the most bad ass wild steelhead on the planet.
Want to further that bend in your rod? We are still seeing the occasional Chinook salmon up river as well. Conditions are really shaping up throughout the river and we cannot wait to see what happens next week! Want to check the mighty Dean River off your bucket list? Spots are very limited but ask nicely here and we’ll see what we can arrange! In the meantime, check out 3 of our favorite previous articles on targeting Dean River Steelhead on Dry Flies.
