Last week we informed you that we were wrapping up the last fishing day of our 2018 season at Alaska West, mostly to say thanks to all of you who made it such a memorable season. In case you missed it, and joined us on the Kanektok this season, well, thanks!
We may have jumped the gun however, as the final minutes on the water often create some of the most memorable moments of all..
Take the photo above of our good friend and Alaska West regular, Minoru Ichiho, who during the final twenty minutes of the final day of the season hooked into this chunk of a leopard rainbow which, after an impressive fight, he managed to bring safely to hand.
Here’s to good people, great fish, and last casts.
Nice work, Min. Well deserved!

I had a similar experience with Mr. Shea as he worked tirelessly positioning the boat for me to hook and land a beautiful leopard during the waning minutes of the day. The good folks at Alaska West work hard to make sure you bring home the fondest memories. Thanks for the great week at Alaska West.

Good comment Paul, and I had similar experiences with all the very professional guides. My son Jeremy and I can’t stop talking about the trip, and working on our picture albums. Still can’t believe the adventure we all had, the great rod bending fly fishing, and the wonderful group of people! I sure enjoy the newsletter and all the blogs. Sounds like the recent silver fishing, with the colored up clowns, and even fatter bows would be a great follow up trip. And Paul, everyone I’ve showed my pics has got a kick out of your new ear fly, ha!

Thanks Kyle, to you and the rest of the crew. We had another great trip. See all of you next year.

I am looking for the gentleman holding the rods in this picture. I believe I served with him in the service 60 years ago. Can someone email and let me know how I can get in touch with him.
