The introduction of UV curable adhesives has allowed anglers to accomplish tasks in seconds that once took hours. From fly tying cements and head finishes, to wader and gear repair, to knot and tackle coatings, there has been a massive introduction of UV curable adhesives over the past several years.
However, despite the variety of UV adhesives available today, there has been very little diversity in the other half of the equation; the UV light source itself. Until now.

UV adhesives require UV light to cure. Does that mean they will cure in direct sunlight? It sure does! That’s one of our favorite thing about them, but direct sunlight can be hard to find during a late night at the tying desk or in locations prone tp precipitation. They also cure much faster when exposed to a powerful UV lamp, which is why a quality UV light is key.
We’ve been putting Loon Outdoor’s new UV Infiniti Light to the test for months now, we’re extremely impressed, and today we’re going to tell you why.
- It’s Rechargeable. Hands down the most notable feature about the UV Infiniti Light is its rechargeable power source. Unlike UV lights of the past, which required disposable batteries (the earliest of which cost more to replace than the light itself), the UV Infiniti Light is fully rechargeable using a standard USB charger. That might not sound like a big deal to some, but for folks that spend the majority of their tying time in a tent, hundreds of miles from the nearest drug store, less dependence on disposable batteries is a really good thing.
- It’s Powerful. When it comes to a UV light, power is everything. The stronger light, the faster the cure time. The faster the cure time, the more likely the product will set as intended. We’re really impressed by the power output of the UV Infiniti Light compared to other lights we’ve tried. In fact, we jumped the first time we turned it on after a full charge, which we think says a lot.
- Power Level Indicator. Another thing we really like about the UV Infiniti Light is that the on/off button also changes color to indicate the power level of the light. When turned on, a green power button indicates a working level and turns red when in need of a charge, giving you time to plug in before being left in the dark during a late night tying session.
If you’re like us and find yourself relying more and more on UV adhesives for your fishing, rigging, and/or fly tying needs, a quality UV light is a good investment. We think the UV Infiniti Light is a great option, particularly for the traveling angler.
