The summer’s biggest rain-storm pounded the lower Dean on Friday the 29th of July and that meant the water was up and green to greet our week 7 group of Dan and David Higman, Capt. Josh Temple, Lance Watkins, Mike Shugert, Jason Haase, Mark Umeda and Andrew Gilbert.
Good things generally come with a bump of water and this time it proved to be once again the case. As the water cleared and dropped Saturday till Tuesday the gang literally wailed on fish. The numbers were so high that we’re withholding them in the interest of sanity! It was incredible Dean River action, with several spots being automatic every pass.
As the river cleared and dropped back into normal, the dry fly action in the upper picked up, including Capt Josh, a damn near child-hood friend of Scott, our head guide, getting a 35″ beast on a dead drift dry in the Motel Run. The swing to the upper river fishing dominating the fishing week still has not happened, with each being almost equal from day to day.
