Reading Mangrove Flats

Reading Mangrove Flats
What do you think, Aaron?

If you’ve spent much time around our web site, you’ve probably seen Aaron Adams’ work before.  Aaron is the Director of Operations for Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, and one of the world’s leading biologists when it comes to – guess what – bonefish, tarpon and other critters that swim around on the flats.  He also has an incredibly helpful, fact-packed web site called Fisherman’s Coast.

Aaron sent us this video about evaluating mangrove flats as bonefish habitat, and we knew we had to pass it on.

In the video, Aaron covers these points and more.

  • Evaluating bottom structure.
  • The significance of algae growth on the bottom and on mangrove roots.
  • Signs of other life on the flats.

Science can help you catch more bonefish.  Have a look!

Note: If you’re viewing this in a newsletter or a reader, click here to learn about mangrove flats on YouTube.
