Mayhem Alert

Our home river at Alaska West gets a mighty strong run of silver salmon.  Although the heat of the action takes place from the last week of July through the end of August, sometime right around the middle of July we’ll typically catch our first silver.

We’re right on schedule.  5 days ago – July 15th – we landed a 12 pound buck.

Polish up the poppers, Timmy.  Mayhem’s right around the corner.

    Steve,

Just got back Saturday. We had a hard fishing group of 5 — well, 4 were hard fishing — then there was me- past prime at best. Evidence of commitment to the sport was seen in that three of the five had spey related tattoos!

For the week, hookups were countless. To hand ranged from just over one to well over three fish per day. Jeff, who has guided full time for the last 6 years and is a VERY FISHY guy, got 6 kings.

Upper river has changed a lot from a November flood. Still some figuring out to do n that half of the fishing.

Weather and support was excellent. Belinda’s food just must be mentioned. I’ve been to a lot of lodges that prided themselves on their cuisine. None touch her gift — from heaven above to us.

Loc, sounds like you had a better than good time! I am jealous…I think I will have to twist my brothers arm and do a BC West trip next year….The wife and the bank manager?….well that will be another story! (It costs us South Africans a bit to do these things!) For now… well we are all looking forward to the Kanektok & Arolik in 3 weeks. If last year was anything to go by we are in for a really good time….Heaven? From what you say & what I know there appears to be 2 right here on Earth!

    Hi Andrew,

Thanx man, no big deal…..just really enjoy and look forward to reading them. Here in Africa we also really like to know what that Alaskan weather is doing!
