Sage 6080 Reel

One third of our zany $1375 Sage Xi3 package drawing (you’re signed up, right?) is a Sage 6080 reel.  We used this particular reel a bit during Deneki FIBFest on South Andros, and guess what – we continued to like it.

We’ve had great luck with the high-end Sage reels at Andros South – the older 3000 series in the past and now the 6000 series.  We’ve written up the 6000 series in the past so we won’t rehash everything we like here – let’s just say they’re simple, light and amazingly reliable.

The 6080 in particular is a versatile choice for South Andros because, while it has plenty of backing capacity with an 8 weight line (and probably even a 9), it’s still plenty light to fish on a 7 weight.  As you may have read in Michael Gracie’s review last week, we like fishing 7 weights on South Andros an awful lot too.
