Alaska West Fishing Report: June 13 – 20, 2021

The opening week of the 2021 season at Alaska West Lodge was met with super high hopes and excitement from our guests and our guides and staff. With the first week of the 2021 Season at Alaska West under our belt, the biggest challenge has been the weather; wet and windy.

Throughout all of Alaska, summer has taken its sweet time to arrive, and at Alaska West Lodge, it’s no exception. Fortunately, we had a bunch of hard-core King Fishers. With the Kanektok River flowing strong, our guides made sure our guests found swingable water and fish despite the difficult weather.

Sockeye Salmon, Chum Salmon, and Trout are good. King Salmon are fewer but also being caught. With perpetual persistence, and patience our guides are making sure all our guests are on fish.

Top-notch guides, hero staff, and awesome first-week guests have made the first week of the 2021 season at Alaska West an incredible time. As the season continues, it will only get better. Stay tuned for more fishing reports and updates.
