Chances are, your local fly shop is more than a place to buy fly fishing stuff and get information about local fisheries. The people who work there are filled with knowledge, history, and culture about whichever local area you’re in. You can ask about anything from where to find the best pizza, local brewery to where to get laundry service done. If you have seven people in the shop hanging out, you’ll most likely get seven different answers. Some might see this as an issue. We see it as a reflection of the embodiment of all those who appreciate their local area.
This past year we’ve all had to endure challenging circumstances, and your local fly shop is no different. Even with things beginning to open up and fly shops are welcoming people with open arms, they continue to be challenged with the residual effects of lockdowns; lack of labor and supplies cause a trickle effect impacting their inventory and regular services. Therefore, keep this in mind when expecting to purchase something.
At Deneki Outdoors, we love the local fly shop and really enjoy hanging out in them. The camaraderie, the coffee, and the overall grooviness of all people who work in the fly shop all sending good vibes regardless of what kind of circumstance or situation you’re in. So in no particular order, we’re highlighting fly shops across the USA that embrace this essence.
Obviously, we have not been to all the fly shops in the USA or across the world. Please chime in on your favorite shop. Please tell us where it’s located and why you like it, so when we’re in the area, we’ll make sure to swing by.
