We want to thank all of the anglers (and non-anglers) who joined us this season at Andros South Lodge. In the midst of everything going on in the world and a tragedy that shocked us early on, our team stepped up, persevered, and delivered fantastic fishing trips for 2020/21.
In Rememberance:
Before the season started by losing our good friend and mentor, Captain Joseph ‘Josie’ Sands. It was a tremendous loss not only to our program but to the community of South Andros Island. We miss you, Joe. Then shortly after that, into the New Year, we received our new fleet of Hellsbay Professional flats skiffs. The term bittersweet was never more real. We had received a new fleet to take us into the next two decades but we’re absent of a beloved family member.
Bonefish Schools:
It’s a simple formula; great water plus awesome guests plus great staff equals a remarkable bonefish school. This past season, Deneki’s own Jeremy Inman, Rapids Camp Lodge guide, and Sage Elite Pro Parrot Walker were the Fall and Spring Season Bonefish School instructors. Both Deneki Bonefish schools offered casting and fly tying instruction, tips on reading water, gear, and fly selection. Simply put, all things bonefishing. The best part of our Bonefish Schools is that you can immediately apply the things you’ve learned and catch fish on flies you tied during your stay with us. Stay tuned for upcoming Deneki Bonefish Schools.
Andros South Lodge Staff:
Hats off to our team. COVID was still in circulation throughout the world and even visited our lodge. Thankfully everyone endured. After a short hiatus, we got back in the saddle and continued taking guests fishing on the flats of South Andros. Our team completed the finishing touches on a new storage facility which is now the epicenter of the lodge, and by mid-season, began a new construction project for a boat storage facility (HBT). And during that time, we were also able to offer guests a new place to spread out during meals, with a covered outside eating area. Despite everything that took place this season and what was happening globally, our team came together and made our little fishing program better than before. Cheers to you all!
This past season definitely has had its ups and downs. We’ve all faced unforeseen challenges, and we at Deneki Outdoors are grateful to all our staff and guests who weathered the storm. There is a renewed energy and excitement for next season. We’re looking forward to the first full season with our new fleet of Hellsbay Boatworks skiffs, new and returning guests, but most of all, we’re thankful for our resilient staff and guides in making the best of this past season. So here’s to The Bahamas and Andros South Lodge for many years to come! Cheers!
