Fly Tying Friday // Gear You Need, Liquid Fusion

My tying desk has at least five different types of glue on it but I really only use one of them.  In the past there was one glue I would use if I needed it to dry quickly, one that I would use if I wanted the strongest possible bond and one that I would use if I needed it to dry crystal clear and not expand.  There is now a single glue that offers all these qualities.

Liquid Fusion is a clear urethan glue that can be found in most craft stores for less than $10 and is a great addition to any tying desk.  Do you want to attach some eyes onto a large mullet fly?  The strength of this glue will bond the eyes onto the EP or whatever material you are using.  Liquid Fusion will dry fast and clear without any foaming or expanding so the eyes on your baitfish pattern look realistic while not falling off after just a few casts.  Need to put a drop of glue onto a crab fly to keep the body secure?  Maybe you want to add some glue to a midge larva to increase its durability but don’t want the glue to dry cloudy and change the color?  Liquid Fusion will get these jobs done.

The glue is also almost odorless making it much more pleasant to work with than epoxy. No mixing required, the bottle comes with an applicator point giving you plenty of control when trying to apply small amounts.  There are a lot of new materials on the market available to fly tiers that make their lives easier and their flies last longer. This is one of them!

Other Things To Make Life Easier:

  • Celestron Hand Warmers
  • Switchback Wading Belt
