Fly tying guru Jack Reis was back behind the vice this week and luckily for us, he brought his video camera. The floor is yours Jack!
“We’re back with another shrimp for your flats cocktail! If you could only fish one pattern on the flats around the world, The EP Spawning shrimp could likely get the job done. Great movement, translucency, and ease of casting all make this fly a shoe-in for bonefish, permit and redfish depending on size and color. While this is my one-fly flats choice, I’d like to leave you with a thought (opinion). No matter what they tell you, you really don’t need to bring 8 different shrimp patterns on your next salt trip.” – Jack Reis

Vise is is correct spelling, not “vice.”

This fly in sizes 4 and 6 has been my “go to” selection for bonefish in the Bahamas and Cuba. I’m going to try some in size 1 and 1/0 for Permit for a trip to Mexico.
