We received a request for photos from our lodge on the Dean River, BC West. The Dean is known for its famous runs of steelhead and king salmon. These anadromous fish must migrate through a very steep, whitewater filled canyon, in order to reach their spawning grounds. Over the years, the fish of the Dean River have evolved to be uniquely powerful. We are serious when we say that these are some genetically superior fish because of a gene pool that consists only of fish that have ascended this canyon. The steelhead and kings we target on the Dean are often fresh from the ocean, many still have sea lice attached. The uniqueness of this run of fish and the relatively short season means our lodge on the Dean often books well in advanced. Want to try your luck or be put on the waiting list? Reach out here! In the meantime, here are some of our favorite photos from a great 2019 season.
