We are in the business of protecting wild salmon and steelhead. When you go into your local grocery store and buy a “Wild Caught Salmon” what does that really mean? Are you unknowingly contributing to the declining fish populations? As wild salmon populations continue to decrease, the population of Orca whales is declining as well. The proposed solution of adding more hatchery salmon to the system is just going to make the problem worse. Patagonia recently released the preview to their new film, Artifishal. This documentary goes over the problems associated with hatchery salmon and asses the proposed solutions. The main question being ask, “What is the price of an ecosystem?”
Want to help make a difference? Let the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) know that adding more hatchery salmon to the system is just going to make the problem worse and cost tax payers millions while doing so!
