Gear you Need // Fishpond’s Switchback Wading Belt System

With the holidays quickly approaching, we figured you might be looking for a few things to add to your wish list.  A couple days ago we featured Scientific Angler’s new line, The Amplitude Smooth Infinity, today we are discussing another one of our favorite products for 2019 made by our friends at Fishpond.

Fishpond is known in the fly fishing industry for their environmental stewardship and product innovation.  Their new Switchback Wading Belt System holds true to their reputation while offering the fishing community a pack system unlike any other.  It may be called a wading belt but to me it is more appropriately defined as a pack or means to carry your gear for the day.

The wading belt name is a reference to what is unique about the piece.  The pack is designed around the belt, which has a built in track that allows the 5 litter pack to slide around on the waist band.  You can keep the belt in place while being able to move the pack to wherever it is convenient for you.  Switching rigs and want a workstation in front of you?  Then just slide the pack to the front.  Are you done rigging up and want the pack out of your workspace?  Simply slide the pack behind you or to the side.  It is completely customizable to suite your needs.  Whether you are right or left handed, you can move the pack so that it is on whatever side you prefer.  Same goes for the shoulder strap of the bag, it can be configured on the right or left side, or even removed all together.  This pack is designed to be adaptable and set up to fit your fishing needs. If your needs change, that is just fine, the pack can be rearranged however you’d like.

The belt itself is made with thermoformed foam for your comfort and features a built in net slot.  The slot can fit most all sized nets but works perfectly with long handled nets like Fishpond’s Nomad Net Series.  You can also choose to remove the pack from the belt all together, or add things like Fishpond’s new wading staff pouch, drink holder, or Quickshot Rod Holder to the belt track.  There are a lot of different fishing scenarios one can find themselves in and the Switchback Wading Belt System gives you the ability to customize your set up around your fishing needs.

As you can see, this is so much more than just a wading belt.  Like all Fishpond products, it is designed with fishermen in mind and has countless options for places to store things like hemostats or retractors.  Fishpond founder and CEO John Le Coq described it as, “functional and purposeful”.  As with most all 2019 Fishpond products, it fits under their “Cyclepond” category which means it is made out of a nylon fabric that is derived from recycled commercial fishing nets previously removed from the ocean.  With this pack, Fishpond stayed true to their values and offers the industry an innovative product with endless configuration options.  All for a retail price of $99.95.  The holidays are quickly approaching, and the price point and functionality make this a great gift option.  Or maybe, just reward yourself with a little present from Fishpond, you won’t be disappointed!
