History of the Intruder – Interview with Jerry French

Interview with Jerry French
Something fishy’s going on here.. Photo: Ashland Fly Shop screenshot.

Steelhead anglers rejoice! The folks from the Ashland Fly Shop recently conducted a great interview with our pal and Alaska West family member, Jerry French, featuring some great insight on fly selection, spey casting, and an in-depth history of the evolution of the intruder-style fly patterns many of us use today.

If you like swinging flies for steelhead, salmon, trout, or anything else that swims, sit back, grab an extra cup of coffee, and get ready for the best twenty nine minutes of your day.

Enjoy!

Mr. French. How come you got all the brains to catch the fish, and I only got the appetite to eat them? Nice work!

A very astute pursuit in an attempt to provide a system from fly/hook to line to rod & reel best meeting the challenge of hooking salmon, and steelhead. Very impressive.
