Show Some Respect

Releasing king salmon from Alaska West.

Today we present you with a quick write up and video, courtesy of our pal Stuart Foxall, on a topic near and dear to our heart; the importance of showing a little respect to your quarry.

Thanks Stu!

Show Some Respect!

Earlier this summer, I was fortunate to fish with Alaska West guide, Jerry French, for a week of king fishing. Considering all of the different tips and tricks that he could have shown me, one of the most important lessons I took from the week was how to handle and release fish with the respect they deserve! Odds are Jerry has probably caught and handled more fish than most of us put together, but he still handled every fish caught with the same love and attention no matter what the size or species.

So, if you want to learn how to handle fish properly, watch the video below and do it like Jerry!

Very nice touch! Thanks, now if I could ever catch a fish,
that’s just what I won’t do, but rather grab the tin foil and
lemons and oh, sorry this is a family channel… okay I’ll do
it exactly as you have shown. Nicely done, Jerry French.
By the Way do you have any relation in Edinburgh, Scotland?
I told Gavin Hastings I was his half brother, so what do you
suppose he did for me. He bought me just a half pint of
Guinness and I was wishing I’d been adopted and got a full
measure of that wonderful stout and ale with the fish and
chips that came from potatoes I done growed myself and
fish that I released… what? I am surely confused. Well Done.
