We have a tradition at Alaska West that on the last day of the week, guests and staff alike gather around for a slideshow of the week’s best photos. We’re fortunate to fish for a variety of fish species including big leopard rainbow trout and chrome bright salmon, all of which make for some good fish shots.
However, the shot that steals the show most weeks is that of ol’ red, the sockeye salmon in full spawning colors. Not only is the sockeye a symbol of all that is Alaska, it is also one of the wildest looking fish around.. and we think they’re pretty darn cool.
