Andros Island Tarpon

Congratulations to Peter Alves and Norman Rolle on landing this beautiful tarpon last week at Andros South!

They spotted a group of laid up tarpon on the West Side (where we fish quite a lot these days).  Not having a tarpon rod rigged in the boat, Peter’s partner for the day Abbas Adam offered up his 9 weight.  They built a tarpon leader – while the fish waited patiently.  Peter made the shot, got the jump, and they managed to bring the fish to hand.

Seeing tarpon isn’t that unusual, but landing a nice one, especially under those circumstances, was a pretty special thing.

Nice work, guys!

Beautiful fish Peter. It looks just a little bit bigger than the Stripers You used to catch on Monomoy.
