Present the Fly Quickly

“Get it in the ballpark quickly.”

“You don’t have to cast 80 feet onto a dinner plate.”

“Speed is more important than distance.”

We get asked a lot about what kind of casting skill is required to catch bonefish.  We use the three quotes above a lot.

On South Andros, our bonefish tend not to be spooky.  Lots of the time they swim right at you.  That means you don’t have to cast far, but you do have to cast quickly.

Bruce Chard’s back today with some video tips on presenting your fly quickly.  Here’s the outline.

  • How to stand in the ready position
  • Management of the fly and the line
  • Speeding up your casting tempo

Have a look!
