Jersey Boys Steven Nelson and Karl Kjellburg showed up to the Dean for their first steelhead experience and wasted no time getting their groove on!

On their first morning they each landed a pair of steelhead on the lower river and declared that their trip was already made and it was all gravy the rest of the week. Seems they are accustomed to going a week fishing atlantic salmon and maybe getting a grab. These two guys continued to pour it on and yuck it up for the entire week – without question, two card-carrying members of the “fun will not be denied” crowd.
Meanwhile, other members of our angling crew fished hard and quietly caught fish thru the week. All members except for Kerry Kilpatrick. She lost a few but just could not seem to get one to the bank, until the last day.
While fishing the lower river with guide Alfie King at her side, she hooked a steelhead of epic proportions. After a long nerve-racking battle the fish was finally brought to the net and Kerry was left shaking. At the end of what had been a slow week she managed to land the largest steelhead of her life – a beautiful sea-liced buck that topped 20 lbs. Nothing like saving up all your luck for the very end!
