Lake Fishing in Chile

Our lakes produce too.

Although our standard program at Chile West is built around fishing 7 different rivers, there are countless lakes along the Carretera Austral that provide some great options too.

Rainbows, browns and brookies can all be caught in the lakes in our region.  As is the case with our river fishing, variety is the key here.  Big dries, small dries, streamers and more can all be used with success on the lakes in Southern Chile.  Our crew knows these lakes well and has some tricks up their collective sleeves — floating flies and sinktips, anyone?

Hitting a couple of lakes during your 8-day trip can be a nice change from fishing in moving water.  Lake fishing can be relaxing and a great opportunity to just kick back and look at the mountains.  The fishing can be fast-paced too– but there’s just something about fishing in still water that drops your blood pressure.

Finally, we work hard to ensure that our guests have a fantastic trip, regardless of what weather and river conditions might send our way.  If it’s been raining hard for a few days, it’s nice to know that we’ve got some incredible lakes in our back pocket to ensure no ‘lost days’.
