We run a very popular program at Alaska West in which we combine early season king salmon fishing with spey instruction from the best in the business. We’ve decided to expand our spey instruction program to the chinook fishery at BC West on the Dean River.
Guests who attend our spey weeks experience our normal fishing program, but also receive off-hour group spey instruction, as well as a ‘ride-along’ teaching format in which our instructors work through runs with our guests during the normal fishing day. There’s no better way to improve spey casting skills than to receive your instruction right in the middle of a world-class fishery.
Brian Niska was the obvious choice to deliver our spey week at BC West. Brian owns and operates Whistler Fly Fishing – a guide service, school and specialty fly shop in Whister, BC. Brian is an expert spey caster and a passionate instructor, and you won’t find anybody more excited or knowledgeable about chinook (king) salmon than Brian. He delivers one of our spey weeks at Alaska West on the Kanektok, and we can’t wait to have him work his magic on the Dean.
Brian’s hosted spey week will happen at BC West on the Dean River from June 20 – 27, 2009. Space is available– please drop us a line if you’re interested in joining the fun.
As Brian says, “Chinooks are the new steelhead.” Come see what all the fuss is about.
