One of our favorite things about fly fishing is that it’s an excuse for us to visit some far-flung, authentic, rural parts of the world. Reading books on local anthropology is great and all, but we think that when you visit a new place it’s pretty important to drink the local beer.
At Andros South, the local beer is called Kalik– named after the sound of the bells during Junkanoo, a huge festival in December featuring street parades through the Bahamas. As it says on the label, Kalik is the official “Beer of the Bahamas”. It’s brewed in Nassau. It’s light and it goes down smooth, and it tastes pretty darned good after a long day on the flats.
Drink down some local culture! Cheers.
