You’ve taken the first step towards a fantastic fishing experience! We’ve received your inquiry and will be back in touch with you by email shortly – almost always within a day or two.
For now, this page gives a short overview of our Alaska lodges, Rapids Camp and Alaska West. There’s much more information about all these topics available on our web site – but this page is a great place to start.
Rapids Camp
Rapids Camp Lodge is located on the Naknek river in famed Bristol Bay. The lodge sits on 60 company-owned acres with over a mile and a half of river frontage right in the heart of some of the finest fishing waters in Alaska. It is the perfect location for launching our expert fly-out program, as well as accessing numerous hot spots via our fleet of jet boats.
More About The Fishing
You can fish the Naknek River, Kvichak River, Nushagak River, Ugashik and Becharof Lakes, and as peninsula specialists we can also get you to places like the rarely fished Smokey. You target all five species of salmon (Chinook (King), Sockeye (Red) Salmon, Coho (Silver), Keta (Chum) and Pinks, as well as monster rainbow trout. As a fully-equipped lodge, you can bring your own gear, or just use ours; we have an entire line of fly-fishing and conventional gear, as well as waders, boots and accessories.
Rapids Camp Accommodations
The main lodge has eight spacious, double occupancy rooms, each with a private bathroom. We also have a two-bedroom “House on the Hill” that accommodates 3 to 4 people. Expect fine linens and beds, a fully equipped workout facility, a quiet reading room, and open bar for beer and private label wine. Throw in a Jacuzzi, high-speed wireless Internet, and satellite television and you’ll feel just like you were home; the only exception, our chefs, which can only serve you three delightful gourmet meals a day while you are here.

Alaska West
Alaska West is located on the Kanektok River in Western Alaska. We fish for all five species of Pacific salmon, as well as rainbow trout, dolly varden and grayling. Our guests stay with us at the lodge each night and go fishing each day with two anglers per guide fishing out of 16 foot jet boats.
Getting to Alaska West means flying to Anchorage and then taking a charter flight that we run direct from Anchorage to the lodge.
More About The Fishing
Our fishing for silvers is extremely fast-paced and lots of fun for anglers of all backgrounds. Since we’re targeting them between 1 and 8 miles from the saltwater, they’re bright, very aggressive and fight hard – they’re known particularly for going airborne during a fight. We use floating lines and brightly-colored flies – streamers as well as surface patterns like poppers and pollywogs.
Our trout fishing is really consistent during the period that we’re open, with flesh, egg, sculpin and leech patterns all producing at various times. Our rivers are excellent places to fish giant dry flies that imitate mice and voles – ‘mousing’ is about as fun as it gets.
When fresh kings are in the river, we target them with swung flies, and often with two-handed rods. These fish are hot and bright, and they crush swung flies – this fishing is totally different from the upriver nymphing techniques used to target kings in many other parts of Alaska.
Alaska West Accommodations
We call our accommodations ‘comfortable but casual’. We pride ourselves on a very high level of service and on delivering a great experience during your stay, but we are not trying to be a ‘luxury lodge’. The atmosphere is relaxing and we’re not too worried about formalities.
