Where you pick up fly fishing can make a big difference in how, where, and what you want to fish for. Regardless of how, where you first started fly fishing, or what species of fish you started fishing for, fly fishing is not just about catching fish; it is also about the experience. Traveling to fly fishing destinations allows you to explore different locations, immerse yourself in nature, create unforgettable experiences, and catch a variety of species of fish.
As one Alaskan Angler once expressed, “We have big fish in Alaska. Salmon, trout, etc. It’s not the size of the fish that matters so much. It’s more the experience and different techniques and flies used in different places around the country…around the world.” We whole hardly agree. Different fish in different areas require different techniques. If one wants to evolve and grow in their own fly fishing development, traveling to different destinations is the way to do it.
