You like it, we like it…catching trout that is, and we like flies that catch them. Here are some of the flies that caught our eye in RIO’s catalog of trout flies. Get ’em. Try ’em. Catch Trout.
String Leech– A great fall fly for steelhead, but rainbows can’t stay away from them either. Color Mashups include Red and Black (our favorite), Black and Blue, Pink and Purple.
Yardstick Flesh- Trout love Flesh and Eggs. This hearty fly works well for both rainbows and browns. Color mash-ups include Peach and White, Gray and White. Both are effective, Pink earlier in the season, Gray super late season.
Make It Rainbow– Super versatile, this fly is effective for steelhead, rainbows, and even browns. Colors include Black (our favorite), Brown, Olive (our second favorite), and White.
Extrovert– Trout like sculpin and the Extrovert is a “sculpin-esque” trout fly that has a great profile and has moves like Jagger. Colors include Black and Brown, Olive (our favorite), and Tan.
Brown Town-This two-toned streamer pattern from Scott Byrne. the Brown Town is super fishable and has great movement. Bait fishy, this trout attractor is super effective. Colors come in Olive (our favorite) or Tan.
Trout are out there. Go to your local fly shop, pick up some flies and load up your boxes.
