South Fork Products: Mag Fly Holders

South Fork Products Lineup. All Photos: Jim Kim

Have you ever looked at something and thought to yourself, “why didn’t I think of that?” That’s exactly what happened when we saw South Fork Products Series of Solo Magnetic Fly Holders. Magnets to dry out your flies are pure genius, and we are fans.

Duo, Solo Lanyard, Solo.

One mistake many fly anglers make is they change out a fly and put the fly they just used back in the fly box without giving it a chance to air out and dry. South Fork Products Solos Magnetic Fly Holders provides an easy and efficient way to dry out your flies with a versatile magnet system that you can wear, attach to your wading jacket, hat, waders, or even packs.

The fly holder comes in three different styles; the Solo, Duo, and Solo Lanyard. They all feature powerful rubber molded magnets with a stainless steel plate. The Solo and Duo also include a small carabiner to hook to your waders, jacket, or pack. They come in a variety of cool color options.

The cool part is being able to attach the magnets without any carabiners. You remove the plate and put it on the inside of your pack, waders, hat, pack, or even a boat, and it will stay. Of course, the thickness of your material will alter the power of the magnet. For the most part, the powerful magnets do keep things in place, and flies stay in place till they dry out especially barbless flies.

The Duo is two-sided, good for small and larger flies, and has a maximum fly holding area. The Solo is perfect for smaller flies. Lightweight and low profile makes it perfect to put on the brim of your hat. The Solo Lanyard is just that, a Solo but on a lanyard. FlyVines make the lanyard. The lanyard adds versatility by having it hang around your neck, but with all the same options as the standard Solo.

Ain’t gonna lie…the South Fork Product Magnetic Fly Holders are the bee’s knees. Check your local fly shop for availability, or go to South Fork Products for more information.

Hi Peter. Thank you for letting us know about Magnet-ique. If I were a fly angler in the UK, I would get the Magent-ique. Since we are USA-Based, we were only aware of the South Fork Products. I don’t know who came up with the idea first. All I know is both are great products. Cheers.
