In honor of our opening week at Andros South, we wanted to share with you 3 bad habits to break when bonefishing. These are just a few things to avoid to help you get the most out of your trip!
- Too many false casts. Get your flies in the water. Our bonefish are aggressive and will often move to your fly. They cannot do this if your flies are in the air. We see it everyday, anglers think they need one extra false cast when in hindsight, they would of been much better off without it!
- Being noisy on the boat. Shoes on the deck aren’t needed. Neither is a slamming cooler lid as your boat partner grabs another Kalik. Bonefish are spooky, no need to let them know that you have arrived.
- Getting sunscreen on your flies. Apply sunscreen before you leave and reapply throughout the day. After you put some on, be sure to rub some sand and mud onto your fingers and fly to remove any odors and greasy residue. Bonefish have a great sense of smell and do not like the Coconut Breeze odor of your SPF 30.
