Kalik is the official beer of the Bahamas but have you ever wondered what the name means? It is said that “Kalik, kalik” is actually the sound cowbells make. There is an annual Bahamian festival called Junkanoo and during this street parade, many guests dance to the beat of cowbells. Next time you are around a delicious bottle of this Bahamian nectar, take a brief break from drinking it and look at the graphics, you will see two cowbells above the logo. The culture of the Bahamas is one that we have grown close with at Deneki thanks to our lodge located in South Andros. Next time you are lucky enough to visit, be sure to drink down some local culture and enjoy a cold Kalik! It also will impress the locals if you know how the flagship beverage of the island got its name. Cheers!
