Timeless Tips: 3 Uses for Opposing Wader Straps

Ever wonder why the buckles on your wader straps are opposite, male buckle on one strap and female buckle on the other?  Most wader companies today incorporate this feature into their wader straps for good reason, its super handy! Odds are you may have found a use or two for the opposing buckles on your straps, but how about three? Check out three handy ways to use this simple feature.

When It’s Hot Out

Super hot day? Fishing shallow water? If you ever find yourself in a situation where you think you might be more comfortable in waist high waders instead of chest high waders, simply roll the upper portion of your waders down to your waist. Wrap both straps around your waist (like a belt) and clip the opposing buckles together.

When Nature Calls

Sorry ladies, this one’s for the guys. Having to use the bushes on the water can be a pain, especially if geared up in wading jackets, vests, etc.. Rather than removing all your layers, unclip your straps from your waders and connect them around your neck. That way, you can pull the front of your waders down just long enough to do your business.

When It’s Time to Dry

Hanging your waders up by their straps usually causes your waders to drag on the ground, not to mention stretch your straps out over time. Instead, hang them up by clipping the buckles attached to the waders together.
