Research Links Steelhead Life Cycle to Salmon Abundance and Temperature

Research links steelhead lifecycle to salmon abundance

As usual, we’ve got wild steelhead on the brain. We thought that might be the case for many of you too, so today we’re sharing a link to an article we found extremely interesting on some recent research conducted by Simon Fraser University on the variation of lifecycles of steelhead in relation to changes in temperature as well as the numbers of other salmon species, namely pink salmon.

Simply put, the well being of species like pink salmon could be correlated to the well being of wild steelhead. If that’s not a reason to love on non-target species, we don’t know what is.

It would seem it is about the fishes-environment not the fish. They need the same thing

Would seem that all steelhead need the same thing, not just wild fish, why draw a distinction?
