One of our favorite things about the middle of our season at Alaska West is the very real possibility to nab the Alaskan Grand Slam; landing all five species of Pacific salmon, all on a fly, all within the same fishing day.. There aren’t many rivers in the world where you can do that!
With that in mind, we’re proud to announce that early last week, Deneki guest, Rob Johnson (pictured left), kicked off our ‘Slam Season’ with the very first Alaskan Grand Slam of our 2018 season alongside Alaska West guide, Caleb Hanna. But that’s not it..
The very next day, our pal Jeremy Libby (pictured right) also teemed up with Caleb to round out yet another Alaskan Grand Slam, along with a leopard rainbow trout and dolly varden, falling just an Arctic grayling short of the prestigious Kanektok Slam; All five species of Pacific salmon, a rainbow trout, a dolly varden, and an Arctic grayling, all on a fly within a single day..
Don’t worry though, Jeremy found his grayling the very next day.
Congratulations, fellas. Nice work!
