Custom Dyed Arctic Fox from Waters West

If you’ve ever tuned in for some of our step by step fly tying posts, odds are you’ve noticed we love tying with Arctic fox.

Arctic fox (particularly the tail) is an incredible material. It’s easy to handle, extremely durable, and offers incredible movement in the water. Plus, unlike many natural materials, it also holds color extremely well with repetitive use. We’ve used it as a staple for everything from intruder style flies for salmon/steelhead patterns to bonefish flies, and if you’ve yet to incorporate it into your own flies, we strongly suggest giving it a try.

Any experienced fly tyer knows that sourcing quality materials can be a challenge. Sourcing quality materials at an attractive price can be even more difficult. That’s why today we thought we’d share our favorite source for premium Arctic fox tails that members of our staff have been using for years.

Waters West Fly Fishing Outfitters out of Port Angelas, Washington offers the best selection of high quality Arctic fox tails that we’ve ever come across. The tails are custom-dyed in house in order to ensure a consistently high level of quality, and are available in impressive range of great colors (just check out the color options below). Plus, a 1/4 tail (shown at the top of this post) is only going to cost you $7.95. For the uninitiated, that’s an incredible deal.

Now that’s a selection. Photo: Waters West Fly Fishing Outfitters.

Tails are available in ‘piece,’ 1/4 tails, and 1/2 tails at $4.95, $7.95, and $13.95 respectively. If you need some Arctic fox in your life, hop on over to the Water’s West website by clicking right here, or stop by the shop to pick up some tails today. Trust us on this one, you won’t regret it.

Hi Antonio, We hope you are well and thanks for your inquiry. I’m sure certain fly tying materials are very hard to find for you. We think the best way to get your hands on some Arctic Fox would be to contact a fly shop in the states that may be able to mail some down to you. Mike Brown owns and operates our favorite local fly shop. We think its one of the best in the country and if he cant help you out maybe he knows someone that can. His info is below in case you would like to reach out to him.
