Today’s post goes out to all the fastidious fly tyers out there..
The un-pressured bonefish of South Andros aren’t overly picky when it comes to exact fly pattern. That said, we have noticed over the years a few common characteristics amongst the flies that seem to work best on our flats – large profiles (big, but light flies), hints of orange, and rubber legs to name a few.
That’s why we were pleasantly unsurprised when our pal, Larry Lewis, showed us this photo of a shrimp he managed to scrape up from the flats during his most recent trip to Andros South.
Wow. Turns out we’ve been matching the ‘hatch’ the whole time. Tie accordingly.
Larry Lewis says
Torrie caught the shrimp.
We just wish we had a breeding pair for our local water!
