We have comprehensive lists on bonefishing. We have dozens upon dozens of posts on fly fishing for trout in Western Alaska. We have even more posts dedicated entirely to fly fishing with spey rods..

However, we’ve yet to run a roundup of posts dedicated to one of our favorite species to target on a fly.. Barracuda!

So, today we right that wrong with five popular posts on fly fishing for barracuda.

Enjoy!

Been thinking about this for a while. If you have a rigged Cuda only rod in the boat, why not rig it (single handed rod) with a commando head and a floating MOW tip. Use an overhead cast (versus spey or skagit cast)? It would help bomb it out there farther with only one or two false casts) so you have more room to strip (two handed). Unlike bone fishing long distance casting are more important with Cuda’s since they tend to want to track the fly before striking. Thoughts?
