This past week we had the good fortune of fishing with our good friend and professional fly designer, Stuart Foxall. For those of you who follow along on a regular basis, you may recognize Stu’s name from all the awesome fly tying posts he’s put together for us over the last few years.
During his stay at Alaska West, he put on some stunning fly tying demonstrations throughout the week, and while going through photos of the week past, we realized the photo above captured a pretty cool moment..
On the far left, that’s Stuart himself showing Deneki guest, Fabio Sampo, a thing or two on the vise. On the far right, that’s Alaska West guide, Jerry French; Part of the original brain trust behind the ‘Intruder,’ along with many other revolutionary steelhead and salmon fly patters.
We’d go out on a limb to say there’s no other tent in the world packed with that much knowledge behind modern steelhead and salmon fly design, and well, we just thought that was extremely cool.
