Ever wonder why the eyes on your fly keep rolling around the shank? You’re not alone! Whether you’re tying bead chain bonefish flies or lead eye intruders, eyes that spin after a few eats can be extremely frustrating.
More than a few of our guests have asked how to keep eyes from spinning around the shank. So, we put together a quick video on how we prefer to secure our eyes (lead, brass, bead chain, you name it) on the shank for a rock solid hold.
Enjoy!

Nice instructions with good video quality. How about locking wraps on top of the shank? Do you use GSP? BTW, nice tunes from The Band!

Thanks for the kind words Eric! Good call on the locking wraps, they work great too. We’re using 140 denier ultra thread here, but GSP does work pretty darn good for locking on lead eyes. Thanks for the input!
