If you’ve spent any time with us in the past at Andros South, odds are you’re familiar with veteran bonefishing guide, Josie Sands. He’s one heck of a bonefish captain, but what many don’t know is that he’s one heck of a sailor too!
In fact, if you’ve been following our blog for some time, you might remember a post on Josie’s sailboat – A boat he built with his bare hands, using native Androsian woods, and built almost entirely from hand tools.
Well, just last week, Josie took a week off from beating up on bonefish to race his hand crafted boat in the 2016 Bahamas National Family Island Regatta. That’s the oldest and largest wooden sailboat race in the country, it’s a pretty big deal, and we’re super pleased to announce that he won!
That’s right, our own Josie Sands is the 2016 E-Class Bahamas National Regatta Champion. Wow.
Awesome job Josie, we’re super proud of you. Now back to the flats!
