Hog Johnson, Big Jerry, Jethro.. No matter what you call him, every river has that one fish that haunts all those who fish it. It’s the biggest, baddest fish in the river that many have encountered, but few have held.
Here on the Kanektok, we call that fish Walter, and each season our guides and guests alike spend countless hours in hopes of a tug of war with ol’ Walter.
We generally consider any trout over the 30 inch mark to belong to Walter’s extended family and just over a week ago we were fortunate to see him first hand.
Thanks to Alaska West guide, Rob Rymph, for keeping us dreaming..
