Simms Dry Creek Boat Bags

Simms' Updated Dry Creek Boat Bags
Dry is right.. Photo: Kyle Shea.

We’ve long been fans of the original Dry Creek Boat Bags from Simms. In fact, it’s safe to say that the majority of our guides have logged more days on the water with the original Dry Creek bags than any other boat bag on the market. Why? It’s simple. They can fits lots of gear, they keep that gear super dry, and they’re extremely durable. Pretty much anything we could ask for in a boat bag.

Well, last season Simms released their updated series of Dry Creek Boat Bags, and we just had to pick one up. Although we loved the original Dry Creek Bags, we think the newest model is even better, and today we’re going to tell you why.

More Waterproof

Just like the original series, the latest Dry Creek Boat Bags are made out of an entirely waterproof material, along with water resistant zippers. On the original Dry Creek bags, these zippers kept the majority of water out, with the exception of a prolonged down-pour. However, the lid on the new Dry Creek Boat Bag has solved this problem all together. By over hanging the zipper, water sheds off away from the zipper, keeping the inside of the bag bone dry no matter how hard it rains, and that’s a good thing.

More Durable

Unlike the previous generation, the new Dry Creek bags are made from a TPU coated rip-stop material, meaning that they’re super durable. We tend to be really hard on our gear so we’re really happy about that.

Good Size

The Dry Creek Dry Bag is available in two sizes, large and medium. We picked up the large model and are really happy with our choice. It fits a ton of gear (removable dividers feature pockets for better organization), and actually makes for a fantastic carry-on bag as well, which is really nice in our line of work.

If you’re like us and tend to carry A LOT of gear around, you’ll probably like the large size. However, our guess is that the medium size will work best for most anglers.

Closure

By far the most innovative feature of the new Dry Creek Boat Bag is the lid closure. Aside from the typical water resistant zipper, the lid features a magnetic buckle that practically latches itself when the lid is closed. Coupled with the overhanging lid, that means that even when the bag isn’t zipped shut, it still remains pretty weather resistant. Plus, should you forget to zip it shut, no longer does the contents blow out when driving a jet boat which we really, really appreciate..

Conclusion

We really like the Dry Creek Boat Bag and think it’s an improvement on an already great product. The large and medium bags retail for $229.95 and $199.95 respectively. For more information, check them at Simms’ website, or visit your nearest Simms dealer.
