Simms G4Z Waders Update

Simms G4Z Update
Better yet.

The granddaddy of waders is getting an update.

Simms has been making their G4 waders with a zipper for a few years now.  Zippered waders get a lot of flack from folks who haven’t tried them, but those of us who have spent time in them tend to agree that the zipper is the way to go – making it easier get them on and off, and allowing much easier ‘relief’ breaks throughout a fishing day.

In January Simms is releasing a new version of their G4Zs.  There are no real radical changes (nothing was really broken), but the new G4Zs include some improvements that we thought were worth passing on.

  • They’re made with a new top-of-the-line Gore fabric that’s 25% more breathable throughout.
  • There’s more pocket space.  The laminated front pockets are bigger, and there’s also a pocket attached to the interior of the chest.  More pocket space is a big deal – our only complaint about the current G4Zs is that the front pockets don’t hold as much as the big chest pouches on non-zippered waders.
  • The zipper is 2″ longer – making ‘access’ even more accessible.

The top of the line doesn’t come cheap – they’ll cost you $799.  If you’re interested in checking them out, swing on by your local fly shop sometime after January 15th and have a look.
