We have a whole bunch of folks headed to Alaska West and BC West this summer, looking forward to chasing king salmon and steelhead making spey casts with two-handed rods.
We’ll have some of the best spey instructors in the world on site during our spey schools, but some (very wise) anglers may want to brush up on their casting before they show up on the Kanektok or the Dean. You’d hit the driving range a few times before your trip to Pebble Beach, right?
Those of you from the Pacific Northwest may want to consider the half-day spey casting schools offered by Larimer Outfitters on April 30th. Tom Larimer and Brian Styskal will teach a beginner session and an advanced session on the Clackamas River outside Portland, Oregon. These 4-hour sessions will each cost you a whopping $50, and we can’t imagine a better bang for your buck. You can get more information on these classes right here.
Larimer Outfitters is hosting 4 weeks of fishing with us this summer – 2 weeks on the Dean and 2 weeks on the Kanektok. Both of the Dean weeks are sold out, but there’s still some space available during one of their Kanektok weeks – drop us a line if you’d like to hear more about it.
