Simms Shoes

Here's the Harbor Gore-Tex Shoe.
Here’s the Harbor Gore-Tex Shoe.

Last week we told you about Simms‘ new dedication to camo.  Today it’s all about shoes.

Simms has 5 new shoes coming in early 2011.  They’re all good looking shoes with some fishing-specific features, and several in particular we think are pretty cool.

The Harbor Shoe that you see above is one of 3 that have full Gore-Tex booties built in.  Simms will tell you all about the fact that they’re the first company licensed to making fishing-specific Gore-Tex shoes, and we agree that that’s significant.

If you’re on a road trip or a lodge trip, it’s pretty nice to only have one pair of shoes along (other than your wading boots of course).  These shoes with the Gore-Tex liner (their Pursuit Shoe, in mid-height and low-height, has it too) will keep your feet dry on those walks down a muddy path after a rainstorm or during that step into the boat on arrival day, but you won’t be ashamed to wear them to dinner as well.  You don’t really want to pack your Xtraftufs, do you?

Speaking of the Pursuit Shoe, we talked Eric Neufeld, our friendly neighborhood Simms rep, into a rundown of the features on the Pursuit Shoe.

NOTE: If you’re viewing this in a newsletter or a reader, click here to see Eric and the Pursuit Shoe on YouTube.

Here’s our abridged version:

  • They’ve got a sole that’s good for hiking and wearing in a boat, and won’t mark your deck.
  • They’re waterproof because of the Gore-Tex liner.
  • They look good.

For that one pair of actual shoes that you bring along on a fishing trip, we like this new lineup from Simms.  They’ll be out in January.
